Deputy Principal's Report
Years 8, 10 & 12
The Henry Kendall focus as always, is to provide quality education in pursuit of excellence for our students. I have seen incredible evidence of this support culture in the past nine weeks between students, staff and parents. Who have worked together to continue positive learning environments and outcomes for our school community in a remote setting. This is no small accomplishment and the commitment by everyone makes me feel proud and honoured to be a leader in this amazing school community – thankyou.
Looking forward to term 4, the following is an outline of what may occur, of course subjected to Department Covid-19 guidelines.
Stage 6 Preparation Program Year 10
A reminder to parents this program will hopefully be facilitated from week 7 next term, the 15th November and will replace the students’ normal timetable for three weeks. Further updates on this program will be published very early next term.
Year 11 and Year 9 Subject Selections 2022 Congratulations to Year 10 and Year 8 for their efficient follow-up and selections for their subject pathways next year. On-line interviews for Year 10 were facilitated this term, with students demonstrating a commitment to the selection process. Thankyou to parents for your interest and enquiries in this important process.
Year 7 Transition for 2022
Henry Kendall high school is considered a school of best practice for the transition programs we have in place. Our transition program is well and truly in action with many virtual meetings taking place to gather information on our Year 7 cohort for next Year. Ms Sanki, Year 7 advisor for 2022 is currently planning for a way forward for next term, to meet Year 6 and get to know them before next year. Orientation Day this year is Tuesday 23rd November. Further information on this will be shared early term 4.
Year 8 and 10- Amazing!!!
Congratulations to the majority of students in Years 8 and 10 who have worked diligently this term to complete their subject work in very different and difficult circumstances. All Henry Kendall staff are proud of your achievements and resilience. Thankyou to parents and Year advisors Mrs Hogan and Ms Hammond for your ongoing support.
Year 12 you are incredible!!!!!
Generally at this time of Year, we would be farewelling Year 12 as they ready for the HSC examinations early Term 4.
At present though, the journey for Year 12 is very different. Year 12, as your Deputy I have watched you over the past six years grow and develop into the kind, caring and supportive young adults you are today. Along that journey, little did any of us know that your resilience and determination would be tested, not in the shape of a HSC examination, but in the learning journey you have all had to navigate to reach your schooling completion, especially in Years 11 and 12.
Amongst the adversity and difficulties, you have continued to shine and work towards your goals for 2022. Your resilience and capabilities have been tested insurmountably and you have risen to the occasion. Incredible HSC practical submissions have been achieved in numerous subjects and your devotion to learning your content and refining your assessment skills is evident in your online application and continued interactions with staff this term.
Whilst we can’t give assurances as to how Term 4 is going to look at this stage Mrs Starkey, myself and the staff of Henry Kendall are committed to seeing you all reach the finish line and celebrate as you should and are entitled to.
Thankyou also must go to Year adviser Mrs Starkey, the parents/carers, and families of Year 12 your ongoing support has been so valued, and we look forward, in some way, sharing Year 12’s success’ with you all. The HSC examinations commence on Tuesday 9th November. Please be sure to keep checking the Henry Kendall and Year 12 Facebook page, the Year 12 MS Teams site and NESA Students Online for updated information.
Thank you to our parent community for your ongoing support of our fabulous school. To all students and parents, enjoy your well-deserved break.
