TAS/VET News
Term 3 has been an extremely busy but very different term for the TAS/VET faculty. The Year 12 Industrial Technology Timber and the Year 12 Society and Culture classes have completed and submitted their Major Projects and their Personal Interest Projects. I must congratulate the students for their resilience and dedication in completing these during very difficult times.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Miss Reynen for the many hours and for her constant support that she has given the IT Timber students. There are some beautiful projects! Our Year 12 classes have completed their courses and are now busy revising for the HSC Exams. I would like to thank the TAS/VET staff for their continued hard work and dedication shown towards their students in preparing them for their HSC Exams in Term 4. I am sure the hard work of our students will be rewarded when the HSC results are released.
The Year 12 Hospitality and Retail Services students who have successfully completed their competencies have achieved a Certificate of Attainment or their Certificate II in Hospitality Food and Beverage or Certificate III in Retail Services. It is wonderful to see how adaptable our VET students have been in completing their tasks under the current circumstances. Our Year 11 VET classes have been busy completing the Cluster Tasks that have been able to be done online and we are really looking forward to being able to catch up on our practical work when we return to school. Our other Year 11 classes have been so diligent with their work this term and it has been lovely for the teachers and students to engage in their work in online classes.
All our classes have been engaged in many different activities throughout the term. Not being onsite at school has meant that the normal practical components of the courses have not been able to proceed, however, the teachers have been able to deliver meaningful activities via various platforms to keep our students engaged and busy.
The iSTEM classes have been working hard on a range of challenges to keep them busy! One of these challenges was to design and construct a floatation device for a small plastic toy. One of the constraints was that the plastic toy must be able to float for a minimum of 1 minute.
Our other classes have been engaged in a variety of activities ranging from web designs to cooking to making furniture designs out of cardboard!
