100 Days of Kindy, Classroom Herb Gardens and Internships

Internship at Ray White Emms Moony

By Anita Lewis

When the opportunity arose to apply for a TREE internship, I jumped at it.

I started by writing an application letter, I then went on to have an interview with both Mrs

Gavin and Miss Youll. We discussed why I would be suitable applicant for an internship and some of the personal qualities I could bring to a workplace. I went into the interview

thinking that I would like to do physio or something in hospitality. I was really surprised

when I got my letter of acceptance into Ray White to work with Lucy Nell. Real estate was

something I had never considered, and I was excited to see what it entailed.

I’ve been out with Lucy and the Ray White Team three times now, we have held open

houses, ran an auction in Bathurst, handed out flyers and much more. Working with Lucy

has been great fun, I’ve had the chance to learn what it’s all about from someone with a lot

of experience in the industry. The TREE internship has opened my eyes to another possible career path, which I am very grateful for. Lucy is a great role model and very good at her job. I’m excited to keep learning from her and see where the future of this internship leads.

100 Days of Kindy – Wednesday 11 August

A beautiful spring day allowed for a joyful day of learning in the fresh air, using nature as our learning tool. Kindergarten celebrated 100 days of schooling at our Windermere campus.  We explored the number 100 through bundling sticks of 10, planting 100 strawberry plants, collecting objects in nature to represent 100 and reading stories about centipedes.  The overwhelmingly success can clearly be seen from the wonderful smiles on display all day.

Paddock to plate moves into the classroom

The success of the Year 11 Hospitality Paddock to Plate unit has continued with the students from Ms Rollo’s class creating a vertical herb garden in the Food Technology classroom. The easterly window and wall will be the home to a variety of delicious herbs including; mint, parsley, coriander, sage and thyme. The students will care and nurture the plants and continue to add them into their recipe and meal creations.

Look out for next fortnights TREE bulletin which will include Junior School Science Week, Yr 7 PDHPE Unit on Nutrition and Mack Johnston’s Intern experience with Whittaker Contracting.
