Our wonderful Year 12 students have been working hard on their HSC Performances and we hope to be able to showcase these in coming weeks should restrictions be relaxed. In the meantime, we’d like to encourage the Class of 2021 to keep up the fabulous work they’ve been producing.
Thank you to the markers of Trial Performance Examinations that have been conducted thus far; they have provided valuable feedback for our students. Thank you also to the teachers who support our HSC Performing Arts students – Miss Dunkley, Mr Key, Mrs McRae, Mrs Stevens, Mrs Moxey, Ms Anthony, Mrs Key, Mr Arthur and Mr Shaw.

Annabelle Van Wyk
Congratulations to saxophonist Annabelle Van Wyk who in June performed with the Sydney Youth Orchestra in their Winter Showcase, at Verbrugghen Hall, Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Annabelle is one of only four regional musicians who are members of the SYO Orchestra.
Toby Gough
Whilst much of this year’s Orange Eisteddfod has unfortunately been cancelled, some students were able to compete in individual sections. Included in these was Toby Gough, who participated in 25 Speech and Drama sections, including poetry, public speaking, mime, sight readings and impromptu, Shakespearean and Australian monologues. Amongst the repertoire he performed were his own works – a poem and a monologue. True to form, Toby produced outstanding performances to take home this impressive hat-trick of awards:
Toby also recently won both the Central Western and Inter Group CWS Speaking Competition, with speeches titled ‘The Need for a Second Language’ and also ‘If Time Travel Were Real’. Congratulations Toby on your fabulous results.
Our string and brass students recently completed their AMEB performance examinations in person. We have been more fortunate than most in the state in being able to sit face-to-face examinations and I would like to thank Mrs Martin for her organisation of these exams in difficult circumstances. Results will be sent from the AMEB in due course, although this process will be much slower than previous years because of COVID-19 protocols. Woodwind, singing and pianoforte candidates will be completing this year’s examinations via video submission. Please contact your child’s teacher for further information regarding video examinations.
Performing Arts Staff would like to encourage our wonderful students to keep playing their instruments at home. We are looking forward to seeing you all again soon.
"We recognize the universal power of music to touch the hearts of men and women everywhere and in all generations-to inspire and encourage, to sustain and lift, to comfort and bring peace."
