Continued Lockdown: School Operations

As you all know, earlier this week, the Victorian Government announced that lockdown restrictions will be strengthened and extended in metropolitan Melbourne, until 11.59 pm on Thursday 2 September.

This is definitely not the news we wanted to hear!

I understand that all households and workplaces (including ours) would have vented their frustration in some way, shape or form, and I understand that for many, this may increase anxiety in the home as families battle with the intricacies of learning from home.

We understand that there will be times when things just aren't working out for you at home and that's perfectly normal and perfectly  OK.

Nevertheless, our teachers will be there for your children at 9:00am every morning to greet them with a smile on their face.  We will continue to implement (to the extent possible) a rigorous learning program, with a strengthened focus on wellbeing,  to the best of our ability.

With next week being Book Week, it gives us the opportunity to 'break away'  from the usual and have a bit of fun with literature as we explore the theme: Old World, News Worlds, Other Worlds.

I can't tell you too much, as I don't want to spoil the surprise, but teachers are planning for a full week of Book Week experiences beginning with our online Assembly at 9:00am next Monday. The assembly Meet code is: meet.google.com/mug-pmdi-vwm

I will also place the code in each classroom's timetable.

Make sure children come dressed to their Assembly in their Book Week costume! And stay tuned to our Facebook page and/or your Dojo page for regular updates across the week. Please jump across to our Book Week Page of the Newsletter for additional details.

On a separate note, could I once again remind everyone, that with the number of children now attending our onsite supervision program, we will need to provide additional staff to assist with the supervision. Therefore there will be days moving forward where your child's teacher will be rostered onsite and hence will be unavailable to conduct their 'normal classes' and have little online presence.

Days and times when your child's teacher will be unavailable will be clearly marked in Google Classroom Timetables. Alternative Meet arrangements will be put in place (so that children do not miss out) so... PLEASE read timetables carefully so that you are aware of any changes in Meet Codes and times.

Could I please remind everyone that next Friday 27th August, will be a School Closure Day: Staff Professional Development Days so there will be no school that day.

Diary Dates

You may note that I have removed the Diary Dates page of the Newsletter. With extended restrictions, it is difficult to confirm any planned events so to avoid confusion, I have just removed the page. Tentative events can however be found on the school calendar via: https://www.cckingsville.catholic.edu.au/calendar/

Have a wonderful week

God bless
