Book Week

Book Week

It has been so much fun celebrating ‘Book Week’ this week. Although we obviously would prefer to be at school, we have been delighted with the students’ response to all the tasks and events of this week.

We have had a Book Week poster competition, a poetry/writing competition (which is still open until Tuesday), Snuggle up and Read, a day of learning about illustrators and trying our hand at illustrating, a day of dressing up and we are topping it off with access to a Book Week pantomime. This is on top of reading lots of Children's Book Council of Australia shortlisted books.

We would like to acknowledge at this time, Cheri Hughes (Anatasios’ Mum) who helped our students understand the life of an illustrator and how to create a fantastic book cover. We are so very lucky to have you!

Although Book Week is over, Elwood Primary has started a fun trend that you might like to get involved in. Children are placing their favourite book/s in the front window of their house. This means that when you go for a walk, you can be on the lookout for these books. If you want to be a part of this, place your favourite book/s in the window at the front of your house and enjoy book hunting during your next walk. The plan is for the books to stay in the window until at least next Friday (September 3rd).

Next week, there is another important day in the world of Literacy. It is Indigenous Literacy Day. As a school, we will acknowledge this day.
