Mercy Prayer

We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at St. Mary’s.

It is through their vision,  determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.

We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

The Birthday of Mary

Next Wednesday, 8th September is the birthday of Mary, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Hail Mary is a beautiful prayer said by Catholics often - especially as part of The Rosary.

The beginning words of the Hail Mary echo those spoken by the Angel Gabriel upon visiting Mary: “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.”

The following words were spoken by Elizabeth to Mary on the Visitation: “Blessed are you amongst women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.”

Students will be invited to participate in a number of special activities to celebrate this feast day next Wednesday.

Celebration of the Sacraments, 2021.

Information regarding the celebration of the Sacrament of First Eucharist and the Sacrament of Confirmation for 2021 will be shared with families next week.

At this stage, the Sacraments have been put on hold due to lockdown and restrictions and will not be celebrated on the planned weekends.

More news to follow.

Season of Creation

From September 1st (World Day of Prayer for Creation) to October 4th (Feast of St. Francis) each year, the Christian community celebrates the Season of Creation by praying and acting together to protect our common home. The season is celebrated by tens of thousands of Christians around the world annually.

Catholic Earthcare is encouraging all schools, parishes and individuals to take action during the Season of Creation and to inspire others by sharing actions on social media using the hashtag #act4ourcommonhome

We would love to share some photos of any actions happening to care for our common home; gardens growing, treading gently with resources, being in nature, in a place you love. These will then be shared in our school newsletter next fortnight and with the Earthcare website via Kerry Stone, our local Caritas co-ordinator. Earthcare will bring all the actions together from across Australia to celebrate the Church in action on the Catholic Earthcare website.

Please send any photos of families in their special place in nature to mhicks@smmooroopna.catholic.edu.au by Tuesday, 14th September.

Thanking you,

Michelle Hicks
