Mr Butts' Announcements

Happy Father's Day

I'd like to wish all of our dads a happy Father's Day for Sunday. I'm sure the kids will spoil you and make sure it's a fun day for you all! The image pictured above is one I haven't seen  previously, but I think it will definitely resonate with a lot of our families particularly over Father's Day weekend. Firstly, Joseph is holding Jesus which is very rarely seen in artwork.  This is a reminder that as Jesus' father, he would have played a pivotal part in raising his child. We don't hear a lot about Joseph's role as a father, however his influence on Jesus was clearly significant.

Coincidentally, we also celebrate Birthday of Mother Mary next week (keep an eye out for a special message from Mons Peter that will be posted next Wednesday!). In the background of the image is Mary sleeping, probably exhausted like any other mother raising a baby. I'm sure all the fathers of kids at school have tried to keep the baby quiet while mum gets some much needed rest! Like Joseph, many of our dads are unsung heroes. The everyday loving acts of kindness most often go unnoticed to those outside their own families. And doing their best to keep family spirits up during this challenging time of Covid. To all of the extraordinary St Mary's dads, we salute you! Happy Father's Day.
