Shadow Judging

Congratulations to our select group of Year 4 students, that is becoming one of the many nationwide groups to be part of the Sun-Project Shadow Judging. This is a FIRST for Oxley and the program aims to engage young, avid readers with award-winning Australian literature and to create a space for their voices as they read, listen, discuss, reflect and respond. 

We have been given a mentor to support and answer any questions we have. Using the digital meeting place, we had a fascinating session with our mentor extraordinaire, Ms. Suzanne Thwaites. She was a REAL CBCA Book Judge and it was a highlight of her career. At the time, she was the only CBCA Book Judge for Victoria and read over 350 books! Her words of wisdom were priceless and we hope to meet again soon.

So far, we have shared thoughts, queries, reactions to pivotal scenes and even tears! The tumultuous journey is not over, as we critique and reach a final decision to crown the CBCA Best Younger Readers book for 2023. 

Book Fair

Book Fair material is provided by Scholastic Book Fairs. Students will have the opportunity to view the material during class time and may bring a wish list home for you to peruse. There is no obligation to purchase all or any of the items listed. 

Commission from sales is used to enhance collections throughout the College.
