Welcome to this fortnight’s newsletter.

This assembly was very intriguing.

To start, Mr Gage gave us a recap of what a busy term it has been. He said that all these incredible things were happening such as, multiple excursions for multiple cohorts, the prep’s making it 100 days into the school year and our upcoming book week celebration. The date of the book week dress up is in week 7, Friday the 25th of August. More details are to follow.

The first group of students to share at assembly were Enzo, Harper, Emily and Kaden from 1/2B. On the 27th of July they went to the IMAX theatre at the Melbourne Museum. During the movie Mighty-Micro Monsters, a man talked about bugs and the students were all fascinated. They were some epic bugs since they were wearing 3d glasses. They went to imax theatre as they were going to learn about inquiry. They saw creepy spiders, huge bugs and live animals. They also went to the forest garden. It seems they really enjoyed their experience.

The next people talking were Steve, Kathryn, Jayden and Tate from 3/4B. They talked about what they were learning about in Reading. They started reading a new novel called Nim’s Island by Wendy Orr. There were many characters such as Nim and Jack, Fred the iguana and Silky the seal. They are currently in chapter 2. It ended on a cliffhanger, as Jack hadn’t returned from his job.

Now from 5/6B Harper and Cleo talked about the Ozharvest FEAST program. The 5/6 cohort made tzatziki and vegetable sticks. They also made fruit skewers made out of apples, oranges and bananas. Finally they created a crunchy noodle salad. More amazing recipes to come.

PE Update:

Sam shared that this term we’re focusing on Indigenous Games in PE and spoke about the results of the Athletics Day. On Friday 21st July, grades 3-6 went down to the Essendon Athletics Track for our Athletics Day. our winning House for the day was Yellow House!

We also heard about an upcoming FIFA tournament open to years 3-6.

Finally, the thing you’ve been waiting for the token trophy. This week was even closer than the last, only 40 tokens separated 1st and last place. The winners of the token trophy were

FLINDERS!
