Grade 5 - 6
Literacy
We are continuing to work with nonfiction texts. In Reading we are comparing and contrasting different types of information reports. Taking a closer look at the structure and elements of an information report. In Writing, we have continued to research the country of Mexico and finished writing our reports! We have now begun our second report, this time we have chosen one of the following countries: Netherlands, Greece or France to further investigate in order to write our reports. Stay tuned for some exciting reading in the near future!
Maths
In Grade 5, we have continued to play some quick maths games to help improve our fluency with basic number facts, the students have been enjoying this time daily. We have then moved onto multiplication and division making the connection between both of these operations. Last week we worked on fractions, we looked at comparing, ordering and sorting fractions, towards the end of the week we were learning to add and subtract fractions.
Humanities
This term we are looking at Geography – in particular the location of the major countries of Europe and North America in relation to Australia.
Interschool Sports
The ⅚ students have been working hard giving up their lunch times for additional training sessions of their chosen sports. This semester we have the following sports available to choose from: basketball, European handball, tennis, kickball and AFL. We have completed 2 rounds one against Casey Fields Primary School and the other against Rangebank Primary School.
