Niangala years 1-3 students attended a Books to Life presentation at Dungowan Hall. Our children joined Dungowan, Woolomin, Nundle and Moonbi schools to enjoy this interactive show.
The book bought to life this year was Jorn's Magnificent Imagination - Coral Vass & Nicky Johnston.
Miss Cattelini attended the show with our 3 students, and said "that it was a very enjoyable afternoon, the production was put together well and the children were involved and contributed to the discussions with amazing questions".
On Tuesday the 8th of August, Niangala students attended an excursion linked with the Home Project at NERAM in Armidale. After a look at the exhibitions, we got stuck into some artmaking of our own. Guided by artist Debbie Taylor Worley, Niangala students were prolific in their production of some beautiful botanic prints! We then headed to the Keeping Place for Cultural performing arts with Bob Blair. Bob engaged the students with some dancing and singing before heading inside for an Anaiwan language session with Dave Widders (I wonder if your children might remember the words for boy, river, meat or echidna?). The students (and their teacher!) had a wonderful day. Thank you to the parents who make it possible for their children to participate in excursions by transporting them.
In Social Skills and Resilience this term the students have been learning about problem solving and to know that there are a range of strategies we can use to solve problems. The students have looked at peer situation scenarios and used the roads and roundabout model to problem solve. Last week, the students worked in groups to discuss their given problem, decide the possible options, brainstorm the negatives and positives of those options and then decided which was the best solution for their problem.
