Year Five

Dear Year 5 families,

Who can believe that we are almost in the middle of term three? Our students have continued to be committed to their learning.

Unit of Inquiry

In Inquiry, students have been exploring technology through the line of inquiry of 'How technology has evolved over time.' The students have explored different technologies such as transport and photography, and have begun to explain how they have changed and placed them on a timeline.

Writing

In Writing, students have been planning their information report that they will write on an animal of their choice. They have begun to include features of an informative report by designing a contents page, and glossary for their report. They are now developing an engaging introduction for their animal focusing on word choice. Students have considered what features they need in their report and how to create subheadings that will engage the reader.

Reading

In Reading, students are focusing on diagrams and labels in texts and how they can help us visualise information. They are investigating texts to locate diagrams and labels, as well as creating their own diagrams and labels for an information report they are reading.

Mathematics

In Mathematics, students have been continuing to work on their goal for Money and Financial Mathematics. They have been given opportunities to solve money problems at their level in both independent tasks and in a small group with the teacher.
