ANZAC Day

Written by Hayley &  Lillian

On the Friday before ANZAC day, the whole school gathered together in the courtyard for our ANZAC Day ceremony to pay our respects to the veterans of war and listen to both the Last Post and the Ode. Students learnt that ANZAC is short for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.  Students were also taught about the significance of the one minute silence. The one minute silence symbolises the opportunity to commemorate the soldiers that have fought for our nation's freedom. The Junior School also made poppies to hold during the ceremony as another symbol of remembrance. It was these poppies that appeared on the Gallipoli fields after the war.

In Art, we used charcoal to make a piece of Art based on Anzac Day or the World Wars. See below for a number of pictures from ANZAC Day and the Art we have created.
