Library

The past two weeks of Term have been fantastically busy in our Library.   Exams, House Chess finals, and now the last week of Term 2, which concludes with Sacred Heart Day, all this has proven to be a time of much action and busy ness.

With our House Chess tournament now finished it is my pleasure to congratulate those who made it to the “Grand Final.”  You have all been amazing in your enthusiasm and attendance. Thankyou.

In our Junior Section, Ciaran Behrendt was victorious over Ben Wooldridge in a closely fought encounter. Both Ciaran and Ben will be stalwarts of our Chess at Monivae in the coming years as I know they both have much potential.

In the Intermediate Chess competition Harrison Hein was victorious playing against Jordan Walter.  Again a great match was experienced.

Finally, our Senior match was played between Justin Rundell and Rory Caldow.  An excellent match ensued.  This was Rory's first House Chess participation and he showed his prowess amongst our "regulars".

At the beginning of Term 3 we intend to organise further matches between these six players, just for fun. I would very much like to acknowledge Justin Rundell, Jake Hausler, Will Hausler, Ben Hall and Elizabeth Dixon whose assistance during the competition was exemplary, thank you all.

Our beautiful students are always first and foremost in our awareness as they come and go from the Library.   We do our best to assist them in a myriad of ways and don’t like to think that anyone leaves without obtaining whatever it is they need.  Today we Library staff were most surprised to receive something we did not know we needed!

We were treated to home-made scones, (with jam and cream) from two very kind Year 11 young women.  Eliza Armstrong and Mackenzie Mason toiled from daybreak to create this delicious treat for us.  Of course, the scones were devoured with much gusto and pleasure. Heartfelt thanks to you both, this kindness simply made our day even more enjoyable.

One of my favourite days in the School calendar is Sacred Heart Day.   A day of love and joy, we celebrate what it is to belong to an MSC Community.  Whilst the Covid pandemic has altered this day for us, now for the second year in a row, this year we are all at School, a blessing in itself.

We are able to enjoy some wonderful activities including a special Mass, whole school quiz, delicious food provided for us all and our grand finale of the Student Talent show/Concert.

Preparations were well underway in the Library this week, ably led by Mr. Franc.

As the holiday time is here, may your hearts be filled with Loving Kindness.  Enjoy your family and friends, find some blissful rest and rejuvenation, go gently, and return to School ready for another wonderful Term at Monivae College.
