GWR Cross Country

After the GWR Cross Country being postponed twice, School Sports Victoria have set the new date for Thursday 15th July. This is the first Thursday back in Term 3. Updated information will be sent out over the holidays via PAM. Students will also receive an email.

Netball

Over the past month, Miss Keath, Ms. Neeson and Belinda Carroll have been busy organising selections for the Netball Victoria School Championships.

Thank you to all the girls who have tried out, a fantastic effort by all. As Miss Keath wrote “Given our huge number (of girls in each year level) to start tryouts, they should be really proud of that in itself. This decision was quite tough, which speaks to the quality of players we had the privilege of selecting from and ultimately means we have a really competitive team going forward. Thank you for persisting through the process.”

This year we are taking the following teams:

  • Yr 7/8
  • Yr 9/10
  • Yr 11 – playing at a different location
  • Yr 12

The Competitions is to be held at the Geelong Netball Centre at Skilled Stadium on the 29th July. As this competition clashes with the YR 11 retreat this year, the Yr 11 girls have got their team together including coaches and team manager. They will be playing in Ballarat on Monday 2nd August. Due to Sheepvention this is a student free day, however the girls are really keen to play.

Thank you to the Mums and ex students who are giving up their time to come along and assist with umpiring and coaching.

Football

With football for the Yr 9/10 boys falling during Lockdown 4.0, we have been able to set a new date. This means that we will have very busy term of football. The dates are as follows:

  • 21st July – Yr 7/8 boys
  • 26th July – Senior girls
  • 4th August – Yr 8/9 girls
  • 11th August – Yr 9/10 boys

We are still after a couple of Yr 7/8 boys and Yr 8/9 girls. If you haven’t put your name down, please send me an email or complete the google form that was sent out.

Junior footy teams will be notified early Term 3 with more information.

Clay Target

Lockdown 4.0 once again has stopped many things at both school and at home. Unfortunately, the assembly scheduled for that week was also cancelled. I had planned to announce the Shooting Captains. This year the Clay Target Shooting Team will be led by Braydon Goss and Demi Taylor.

Shooting season is back at a speedy start, despite the weather we have a team of thirty-six shooters eager to train. Off to a wet start, we have had two trainings with a fantastic turn up of roughly twenty-five shooters per night.

With expertise from parents and the generosity of the Hamilton Clay Target club volunteers, helping to train students in preparation before the upcoming Coleraine Field and Game shoot on the Tuesday 10th August, we will be ready to give it a good crack.

A big thanks to all of the parents and staff who are willing to help out in order for us to conduct our weekly training and we are looking forward to a good year ahead.
