Wildlife

“If you can’t excite people about wildlife, how can you convince them to love, cherish, and protect our wildlife and the environment they live in?”  Steve Irwin

As part of the Biology unit students in Year 7 are currently learning about biodiversity, the diversity of life on Earth and how it is classified. Last week each class took part in an incursion that focused on Australian wildlife.

The students had the chance to get up close to a number of native Australian animals from some of the main classes of life, such as a crocodile, python, and lizards (Reptilia), as well as a turtle (Amphibia), a sugar glider (Mammalia) and a Red Tailed Black Cockatoo (Aves).

This is a great incursion where the students actually get to interact with the wildlife and hopefully in the process, building a greater appreciation for the various forms of life on Earth. All we need now is Sir David Attenborough narrating in the background.
