Each Newsletter edition, the Careers & Pathways Centre will be sharing information with the wider College Community about Career News and our VCAL program.
The senior students receive an emailed copy of the Careers News which is published weekly. In each Careers Newsletter there is information about university and TAFE courses, new courses, information seminars, Open Days, Defence Force, Scholarships and SEAS, VTAC advice, a focus on a particular career area, events run by the College plus more.
Work Experience Year 10 students
All students should now have completed their Safe@Work Training (OH & S) in preparation for their Work Experience. The next hurdle for our Year 10 students is to complete their Industry Test and email the completed certificate to jg@stbedes.catholic.edu.au by 11 May.
We also had 34 students complete a full day of training for their Construction Induction Card which is now a compulsory requirement for any student who will be working on a building site for their work experience.
This card will be an invaluable asset to students when seeking future employment in the construction industry.
VCAL
As part of our VCAL program, the students attend a work placement one day a week for the entire program. In appreciation of the placement opportunities by a large group of employers, we will periodically feature their business. Here we have a year 11 student, Matthew Grech, who has a work placement with Bardoel Constructions every Friday. We sincerely thank Chris from Bardoel Constructions as, without these willing employers, our program would not be the success that it is.
