Year 11 Captains' Report

So  much has happened this past semester with fun experiences and opportunities for us all.

One of the most defining and iconic events for many of us Year 11's so far, has most definitely been our Presentation Ball, whether that be as a guest or a debutante yourself, it was quite the exciting night, with over 800 guests. It was definitely an unforgettable night and we hope everyone was able to enjoy themselves.

We have Peer Leadership camp approaching for some of our Year 11’s. Over the past few and upcoming weeks, all leaders have attended regular meetings in which we have been assigned our positions and have practiced running the activities, in order to guarantee they run smoothly whilst on the camp.  The next and final stage, is attending the camp which is occurring on Monday 5 August to Wednesday 7 August.  We are really excited to get to enjoy this memorable camp once again.

With subject selection approaching, it is important to make sure that we choose subjects that we like, enjoy, or are good at. When looking at subjects, don’t just look at how much they scale up, if you enjoy a subject, doing the work won’t seem so much like a chore and you’ll be doing a far better job than if you did a subject you don’t like, but scales up highly. Let’s all try our best to choose subjects that we’ll have fun in, so that we can make the most out of our remaining lives here in high school. However, please remember that if you are looking to continue your studies at university, have a look at the prerequisite subjects needed for any courses you are interested in.

Coming up this term, we also have a few events organised by the SRC.  Firstly, we have IDAHOBIT Day, then a Junior School orientated event, which will be organised by our representatives from Junior School, in the hope of encouraging all members of our school community to feel like they have space to speak up about what matters to them and feel involved in the school.

Our final event for this term is ‘Are You Okay Day’. We will be encouraging all students to come wearing accessories that represent a  club or group they support, whether that be AFL or a Hogwarts house, to again promote inclusiveness.  More details on this event will come later on in the term, so keep your eyes out on Compass.

2020 Course Selection Information Evening

On Wednesday 24 July, the Middle School and Senior School Information Evening was held.

This evening covered the VCE Course Selection process and also provided students and parents with an opportunity to learn about the VCE subjects, that students are considering for 2020.

Students can visit the VCE Coordination Office, for any questions regarding subject selection.

2020 VCE Subject Course Selections

The website for 2020 VCE Subject Course Selection is now OPEN.

Current Year 10 and 11 students participated in information sessions over the past fortnight on how to complete this process.  Students are reminded to check their emails, for details on how to log in.

Course selection CLOSES,  Monday 5 August at 3 pm.

The 2020 VCE Handbook, is  available on the school website homepage for students and parents/guardians to refer to.

VCE SACs

A reminder that if your child misses a School Assessed Coursework (SAC) they must get a medical certificate to enable them to sit the SAC in the next available IPT time slot.

Students will not be granted SAC redemption unless they have a medical certificate or it is a school-approved absence. If there are extenuating circumstances, please let us know and we will make a decision based on the VCAA guidelines.

Once a student has been approved for SAC redemption, they will be required to sit the SAC the next available time slot.

The Term 3,  IPT schedule has been posted on the Year 11 and 12 Noticeboards and Google Classrooms.

Unexplained Absences

Any absences from school must be parent/guardian approved – you can do this through a signed note or via the Parent Approval Button on Compass.

You can also use Compass to view your student’s past absences.
