Year 7s

Term 2 is continuing to offer many new opportunities to all year 7 students and the level of engagement of all the boys, both in and out of the classroom, has been exceptional.

Well done to all of the boys for approaching all of their classes and other school activities with such enthusiasm and pride.

Year 7 Camp Program

On behalf of all Year 7 students who were involved in the camp program in 2018 I would like to thank our Outdoor Education staff, Mr Darren Strom and Mr Nic Anderson, for an amazing series of camps this year.

A huge thank you also to each of our Year 7 Homeroom Teachers Ms McCormick, Ms Ditcham, Mr Tanti, Mr Rejman, Mr Winberg, Mr Blackall, Mr Wilson, Mr Kelleher and Mr Meade who all attended the camp with the homerooms and assisted in making all of the activities such a success.

The Students spent 4 days at the College property at Phillip Island and were involved in a range of activities including swimming and bodyboarding, nature walks, fossil dig, fishing charter, nature park visit and plenty of time getting to know new classmates and homeroom teachers.

The camps ran throughout the whole of Term 1 and into the first week of Term 2 and proved to be a fantastic opportunity for the Year 7s to settle in to life at St Bede’s College.

Congratulations to all of the Year 7s who approached the Camp program with such enthusiasm.

Training Band

Congratulations to all members of the YEAR 7 TRAINING BAND who are hard at work every Tuesday morning with Mr Hambly, Ms McCormick and Ms Bellew to master their craft.

The boys are currently working towards playing their first concert as a band later in the term and we congratulate them on their hard work and dedication.

We are looking forward to hearing them all play together very soon.

A fantastic effort!

Year 7 Drama Incursion

On Friday 11 of May the Year 7s were lucky enough to have a drama workshop for 2 periods. It was run by Mr Nick Waxman. The workshop was about Australian history in the form of drama and comedy. We all played a role for a scene from one of his plays. We performed the scenes with partners. Some of the group performed their scene for the rest of the group. Towards the end we got to make our own small play with our partners about a topic of Australian history.

It was a lot of fun and taught us about the art performance.

Year 7 Retreats

As part of the Faith Development program, students in Year 7 have had the opportunity to spend a day out of the normal classroom for Retreat; a day of activities, prayer and reflection.  Our Lasallian Youth Ministers, Caleb Bainbridge and Matt Blake have lead the retreats, assisted by our Lasallian Youth Leaders.  In addition, all Religious Education teachers have also been involved in the program.

It has been uplifting to see the way the Year 7 students have responded to and involved themselves in the activities presented during these special days.
