Grade 3 - 4

Maths

Last week, students continued to engage in multiplication and division as they explored number sequences, creating and arranging arrays and solving worded problems.

This week students began symmetry. The students were very excited and quickly caught onto the correct use of the line of symmetry and how it is used, as well as what the difference between symmetrical and asymmetrical. Students explored symmetry in the real world and went for a walk around the school environment.

Reading

Students have been learning about finding the Author’s purpose in the text. This is to explain why the Author has written the text and what they hope the reader will take away from it. Students have also been learning about finding the main purpose of a text as well as the supporting details. This will help students to understand what they are reading and focus on the important elements of the text.

NAPLAN

Over the past week the grade 3 students have completed their first ever NAPLAN tests! All students that participated did extremely well in their tests. We can’t wait to see the results!

WELL DONE YEAR 3 STUDENTS!

Writing

Students have been refining their knowledge of narrative writing. We have been writing a narrative story based on students' own interests and adding in sizzling starts, dynamic dialogue and descriptive words using the 5 senses!
