Literacy

Last week we read the book 'Bears don't read'.

Some of the really interesting words from the book were stroll, gaze and peculiar.

We learnt about the meaning of these words and how we can use them in our own way.  We then used the book to consider how stories are structured - with a beginning, a middle and an ending. We wrote sentences about each part of the story using capital letters, full stops and some of our own interesting language.

This week we have been developing our own stories using a picture prompt.

We came up with lots of character ideas, then decided on what our character was doing. We brainstormed problem ideas and even learnt what a antagonist is.

Adding descriptive words (adjectives and adverbs) makes our writing even more interesting.

Maths

During our Maths lessons we have been learning about location.

Using positional language helps us to give and follow directions and think about where things are in relation to others.

The Beebots have been helping us to practise giving directions as we program them to move from one place to another.

Thanks to all those who have booked in for Student Progress meetings next week.
