Maths

In maths over the past two weeks we have been focusing on place value. Place value it where we understand the value of a digit depending on it's place in a number. We are beginning to understand that each place is 10 times bigger than the place to it's right.

We used dice and playing cards to make 2 digit numbers and represent them using the MAB blocks to show we understand that 10 ones is the same as one ten stick and 3 tens sticks is that same as having 30 ones.

Look at our examples below.

We have also been focusing on counting larger collections of items and finding ways to quickly count these larger groups of items. We have practised counting by 2's, 5's and 10's to make it easier to groups and count items.

Here are some of our examples;

Assembly

Last week 1/2K presented some of their writing work at a whole school assembly. We shared with the school how we have been learning about adjectives and how to use adjectives in our writing to make our stories more interesting and descriptive.

Here are the photos of the children reading at assembly. They all did an amazing job.
