This week in Japanese:

International Women’s Day in Japanese

International Women’s Day was on the 8th of March, so YR5/6 students tried a listening comprehension task to learn about some amazing women in Japan – an entrepreneur, an artist, a programmer, a professional skate boarder and an astronaut! They listened to the text and collected information about the women. Later, the students will be using some key sentences to introduce a chosen woman in Japanese. Keep up the great work YR5/6 classes!

Hinamatsuri

YR1 and 2 students learned about a Japanese festival in March – Hinamatsuri. It is called Girl’s Day or Doll’s Day. Families with daughters often display Hina dolls to celebrate this day to wish their daughters health and happiness. YR1 students adored Junko Sensei’s Hina dolls and many successfully created a Hinamatsuri collage of dolls. Beautiful work YR1 and 2!
