Grade 1 Students

Celebrating our outstanding Ones!

English

We have continued working on writing recounts, looking to include details in order by using words such as first, next, then, later, after and finally. We also wrote about some of the incredible women who inspire us for International Women’s Day. In Reading we have started setting up small reading groups, with a range of activities to complete throughout the week.

Maths

Grade 1s have continued their number fluency and understanding of place value with a range of different games in the classroom. Place Value Battleship and Mastermind have been favourites, and we are becoming familiar with skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s.

Wellbeing

We have completed a variety of Respectful Relationships and Resilience Project lessons, considering our Personal Strengths and the value of Friendship. We have also showed off a Gratitude Attitude by sharing the things we are grateful for; in Grade 1 these include grandparents, rabbits, animals, hot chips, good friends, TV, teachers, iPads, gardening, families and ice-cream.
