Career Networking for Young People

Whittlesea Careers Expo

A group of Year 11 Work Related Skills students ventured off to the local Whittlesea Careers Expo, run by the Hume Whittlesea Local Learning and Employment Network, held at the Plenty Ranges Arts & Convention Centre.

Students started the day listening to The Australia Defence Force (ADF) personnel who discussed the careers, career pathways and educational opportunities on offer with the ADF. Students then continued to explore the Careers Expo, where they were able to engage with stall holders and network with private and government organisations, and network with SWL (Structured Workplace Learning) partners.

Over 50 stallholders participating from local education, training, employment, industry and services sectors – with many providing engaging and fun activities to raise awareness of the diverse range of career options, were available for our students to explore.

This local Careers Expo allowed Vocational Major students at Epping Secondary College to gain access to vital information which will assist our students with their career pathways and preparation for the world of work.

This group of students proudly represented the college, with all students demonstrating the college values of Care, Respect and Resilience.

The Year 11 WRS students would like to thank Linda O’Shea for supporting them during this excursion and for all her efforts organising SWL placements for our students.
