National Young Leaders Day Excursion

National Young Leaders Day Excursion

On Monday 27th, the Year 12 leaders went to the conference for Halogen’s National Young Leader’s Day. It was very eye opening and inspirational to see all these role models and listen to their stories.

Meeting Nazeem Hussain and Robert DiPierdomenico (Dipper) was very intriguing, and it was interesting to hear them bounce back from difficult times and display strong resilience throughout their lives. This presentation was very powerful to hear as it allowed us as students to relate to them and aspire to become our best selves.

The captains were given the privilege to hear from inspiring individuals. This included Candy Hertz, who has a portfolio career of a successful TV/Sports Presenter!

She shared her non-linear pathway full of rejection and excitement which led to her fulfilling career. Hertz taught us about the uncertainties of this career pathway and how to navigate through disappointment.

We also had the pleasure to hear from Amanda Johnstone, who is a Tech Inventor and designed her own fashion company at 16. We learnt from Johnstone to reach out for help and take small steps towards your end goal.

A main takeaway of Amanda’s speech was “comparison is the thief of all joy”, in relevance to our personal goals.
