Harmony Day!

Harmony Day is celebrated annually on 21 March in Australia.  The day's celebrations recognise our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds.

Our Clovelly Park Primary School Harmony week celebrations were incredibly successful again this year. We held our annual Harmony Week assembly on 21st of March 2023 and many classes came together to perform a dance for their peers and families. The week included many cultural activities including Tye die, country flag making, cultural face art, and cultural music played in the yard each day. Both children and staff shared their own cultural histories through stories, wearing traditional costumes and cultural dance.

Many classes spent time preparing for their performance in the lead up to our assembly. Classes were busy practicing a variety of different dances. We thank Ms VG for her amazing support and creative guidance throughout the weeks leading up to our performances on the day.

The assembly was incredible with many families and friends attending to celebrate our diversity. Ms VG, the Harmony Committee and a few students decorated the gym with all the children’s artwork and lots of orange. Ms VG opened the preceding with a beautiful performance on the harmonium. All the students and teachers were in their cultural clothes and performed each dance with perfect precision. The assembly concluded with a catwalk displaying all of the many cultural outfits worn by children and staff. It was a fantastic Harmony Day assembly enjoyed by all. A big thank you to Ms VG and the Harmony Day Committee for helping Clovelly Park Primary celebrate this wonderful day.
