Drama

Term 3 has seen students in Drama participate in a range of performance related activities.

The HSC class were able to perform their Group Performance and Individual Projects Performances earlier in the term in order to get feedback on their progress. They shared their performances with the Year 9 Drama class and some lovely teachers who volunteered to sit as panel members. It is unfortunate that the COVID-19 lockdown has prevented the students from sharing their final performances for external assessment, but we are glad that they were at least able to perform for their Trial HSC examination. Students are currently preparing for the written examination.

Year 10 students continued working on their playbuilding and physical theatre work and were able to show a preview performance of their group pieces just before the lockdown. We are now starting on our scripted Australian Drama unit, where we are examining a play adaptation of Picnic at Hanging Rock. Early next term, the students will perform selected scenes from the play for assessment and provide a verbal explanation for their artistic choices.

Year 9 Drama are currently working on a playbuilding unit that has now gone online. Small groups are working on creating a series of scenes under the topic of ‘newsworthy’ so obviously COVID-19 is a bit of a feature. Groups have decided to all look at the topic of COVID-19 from a different angle with a focus on mental health, environmental impacts and economic impacts. This will be presented either live or as a Zoom performance.
