Father's Day

In the lead up to Father’s Day on Sunday, we take time to reflect on the fathers of our world. The fathers that are with us; the fathers that have left and the memories we hold; the fathers of the future; and the role models, that are father figures in our lives.

Whatever way you choose to celebrate Father's Day this year, I hope it brings joy.

Child Protection Week  5 - 11 September 2021

The theme for Child Protection Week is:

Every child, in every community, needs a fair go.

To treat all of Australia’s children fairly, we need to make sure every family and community has what kids need to thrive and be healthy. The 2021 theme for National Child Protection Week is all about the importance of the ‘bigger picture’ in addressing child abuse and neglect.

Providing every family and community with the support they need, has tremendous power to build these critical relationships between children and caring adults.

Jersey Day

Jersey Day is on Friday 3 September 2021. Jersey Day is the perfect opportunity to start a discussion with your loved ones about organ donation.

  • Organ donation can save the lives of many people.
  • Around 1,650 Australians are currently waitlisted for a transplant.
  • To become an organ donor, you need to join the Australian Organ Donor Registry.
  • State based driver’s license donor registries no longer exist.
  • In Australia, family members will always be asked to confirm the decision of organ donation. That is why discussing your decision with family and friends is so important.

You can register your decision to donate via Jersey Day. It takes less than a minute to register.

Social Justice Sunday

We celebrated Social Justice Sunday on 29 August 2021. The Social Justice Statement 2021-22 inspires our efforts to care for creation while responding to the needs of the disadvantaged and excluded. See more on the Social Justice Statement 2021-2022 here

Every moment and encounter is an opportunity to be amazed by beauty, enraptured by amazement, and consoled by the traces of divine presence. Have you had the chance to experience wonder and awe while out in nature throughout lockdown?

God of wonders,

You show us your beauty in all created things.

Help us to pay attention:

to the taste of the ocean on our lips,

the warmth of the sun on our hands,

the song of birds in the morning and evening,

the fragrance of the earth after rain,

and to the star that guides us.

Creator God,

We stand in awe of all that you have made.

Fill our hearts with gratitude

for every good gift, great and small,

that feeds and forms us,

inviting and enabling us

to become people who are fully alive

in your amazing grace.

AMEN.
