Leader In Me and Student Leadership

Once again, our students are continuing to shine as resilient, adaptable, and hard-working individuals. At a time where it may feel we are hitting our limit, it is important to apply Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw and practice our Growth Mindset. Reflect on what we are thankful for, who we are grateful for, and take a moment for ourselves. Self-care can go a long way in helping reset our minds and outlook, particularly during challenging times such as these.

Our students have recently focused on the concept of ‘Big Rocks’ and what is most important. What are the things that need to get done vs. what would I like to do? It’s fair to say that our Big Rocks may differ slightly during this time. I suggest that all of us have one labeled ‘Self Care’ to ensure we all put this as one of our priorities.

The next focus for the Junior School is ‘Emotional Bank Accounts’. When was the last time you made a deposit into someone’s emotional bank account or someone added to yours? A compliment, an act of kindness, or simply a smile can go a long way to giving someone a boost. Showing our children that even the smallest of acts can make a big difference, it doesn’t need to be an extravagant gift or material object to make someone’s day.
