Dear Parents,

Over the past eighteen months, our global society and indeed, the local school community has, by necessity prioritised the skills of adaptability and flexibility. As a community, most of us have aspired to engage, both in our personal and professional lives with flexibility and by purposefully adopting a growth mindset. From a growth mindset perspective, as a society, we realise the importance of resilience, self-awareness, and empathy. One of the key takeaways during the pandemic has been the focus on support, care, and nurture towards each other and ourselves as this has been a unique experience for every one of us.

Interestingly, McKinsey’s latest global survey of business leaders shows a significant rise in optimism about the world economy, with 69% believing that the global economic conditions will improve. According to the world economic forum, it is the approval of several COVID-19 vaccines in late 2020 that has contributed to brighter public health and economic prospects.

As Principal of Oakleigh Grammar, I am aware that many families within our community have faced challenging circumstances, and in some cases, ongoing financial hardship as a result of COVID-19. As a School, we are acutely aware of the impact this has had on families, particularly those whose income derives from the hospitality, travel, arts, and entertainment industries and sectors reliant on those industries. Oakleigh Grammar has been supporting a range of families whose income has been directly affected by the current crisis and it is important for any family who seeks financial support to directly contact our Business Manager, Mrs Anna Lewis.

Overall, I am very proud of the strength of our students, staff, and parents for demonstrating strong development in the necessary life skills of flexibility, adaptability, and empathy.

Monash Scholars’ Program

Congratulations are extended to the following Year 10 students: Mitanshu Chaudhari, Arthur Demetriou, and Noah Peoples, who have been offered and accepted a place in the Monash Scholars’ Class of 2021 to 2023. The three students are highly deserving of this recognition and will have the opportunity to experience all that this Program has to offer.

Kiss n Go Zone

Due to the impact of construction on our Campus for the new and exciting Centre for Academic Excellence, the Monash City Council has agreed to temporarily convert our Kiss n Go Zone on Bletchley Road to a School Bus Drop Off and Pick Up Zone.  This change has been requested for safety reasons as there is reduced space for Bus access to our outer -yard.  The Bus Zone on Bletchley Road will revert back to a Kiss n Go Zone at the completion of our building project estimated to be around May next year.

Stay Safe

Stay Well
