Diocesan Tennis

On Tuesday March 2nd the KCC tennis teams headed to Bolton Park to play teams from Mater Dei, Xavier Albury and St Francis Leeton. Hannah Forwood, Ava Shaw, Alex Newman, Cassie O’Brien, Hanna Metcalfe and Jacinta Hagenbach made up the girls’ team and Max Prest, Archer Carey, Jimmy Guthrie, Cooper Clark, Baxter Harmer and Tom Pleming played for the boys’ team. Many of these players have had limited experience playing tennis but this did not hamper their enthusiasm and competitiveness.

All teams played 4 singles matches and 2 doubles matches against each school. Our boys faced the toughest team first and went down to Albury, but followed this by a win against Leeton then a loss to Mater Dei. Our girls faced very tough competition all day but their games and their confidence improved as the day went on, with their best result being a draw in the doubles against St Francis.

Many thanks to all players for volunteering to play at such short notice. You represented yourselves and the College beautifully.

A special thank you to Max Prest who has been the backbone of the KCC tennis team for many years. Max travelled back to Wagga on Monday night after competing very successfully in the CCC tournament in Sydney on Monday. This is the last year that Max is eligible to play Diocesan Tennis and we thank him for his fantastic contributions since Year 7. Good luck with your tennis career Max!
