Dungeons and Dragons - Library News

Introduced this year into the Library space, is our very own Adventurers Club. The Club is for students new to the Dungeons and Dragons Universe, established players and Dungeon Masters. Working alongside teacher Lachlan Marr, The Library Team have recruited over thirty students ranging from Year 7 to Year 11 to venture into this table top gaming phenomenon.

The first two sessions have involved introducing the Dungeons and Dragons system and building characters. Using a pencil and paper, these sessions have seen students begin to ponder about who their character will be, they are also making decisions about what character attributes might be most useful and begin to draft characters that they will soon be using in adventures. Some students have even started sketching what their character looks like.

Table top gaming and Live-Action Role-Play have many benefits for students including:

  • building on critical literacy skills,
  • learning to collaborate to achieve goals,
  • improving communication skills,
  • developing problem-solving skills,
  • building confidence,
  • finding new friends and
  • Interacting with other students who are in other year levels.

It is still not too late to join the Adventurer’s Club – contact one of the friendly Library Staff if you are interested.

Anyone interested in joining a Warhammer Club should also speak to the Library Staff.
