Teaching & Learning  5H

5H

Over the last two weeks in 5H we have been exploring Shaun Tan’s The Lost Thing.

While the story is about a boy who finds a strange creature, we have discovered that under the surface it is about imagination, freedom and how sometimes as we grow we lose some of those things. We explored the book by making predictions, making connections to the text, analysing the art work and exploring how sound and music can change the story while watching the short film. Our buddy class 1R read with us and we channelled our inner stylists and designed costumes for them and made newspaper costumes.

This week we have begun thinking about our personality traits and what makes us great learners. Traits like perseverance, honest, kindness and forgiveness are a reoccurring theme. As we have been identifying these in each other we have come to the realisation that we are much stronger as a group than we will ever be alone.
