MIA GLINER’S DANCE GROUP PERFORMS AT MOOMBA 2023

Mia has written a wonderful article below about her experience at this year’s Moomba festival, reminding us all why Melbourne is such a great city to be a part of. Congratulations Mia. It sounded like a spectacular day.

Over the long weekend, I had the opportunity to perform at the MOOMBA day parade with my dance studio, ‘Shine Dance Studio'. This was an amazing opportunity especially because we were accompanying the monarch float with Rob Mills and Rhonda Burchmore.

When we found out about this opportunity our dance teacher was a bit astonished because none of us knew what MOOMBA was!  But over the next six weeks, we prepared for this event, rehearsing, and visiting the city we had grown to love and be very excited about it.

With only six weeks for rehearsals, which is not nearly enough for such an important event, we managed ‘somehow’ to pull it off and it was an amazing performance and experience.

Meeting Ronda and Rob (King and Queen of Moomba) was definitely a wonderful opportunity, their enthusiastic personalities and encouragement provided us with the motivation to deliver a performance which was better than we could have imagined. Both were very supportive and at some parts even let loose to join in dancing while they were on the float.

Overall, it was such an amazing experience and I would love to do something like this again. Our dance team got an insight into show biz, how even when things go wrong, we learnt to just smile and continue acting as if nothing happened. The experience of dancing in a parade will remain unforgettable!”
