STUDENT ID CARDS

Most students should now have their student ID cards. I would like to encourage all students to bring their cards with them when they visit the library. The student cards are helpful to library staff when we are issuing loans and the cards also make printing easier and quicker.

EAST CAMPUS

I would again like to thank everyone for the generous donation of books for our East Campus collection. Library staff will be adding new books to the collection as they are processed. The books in the East Campus collection can be read by students and returned to the shelves when they are finished.

The books at Main Campus Library are also available to students based at East Campus. Students may place reservations via the library catalogue.

If students are unsure of how to place a reservation, please contact the Library:

library@mckinnonsc.vic.edu.auLibrary staff will organise the reservation for you.

Reservations are generally available for collection at East Campus each Friday. Books borrowed from the Main Campus Library must be returned to the returns box on level 2 near the Student Managers' Office.

BOOK OF THE WEEK

The following books have been featured during the last fortnight:

Nightbirds by Kate J Armstrong is a new young adult fantasy novel best suited to 13yo+. In a dazzling new fantasy world where magic is illegal, The Nightbirds are high society girls who are well guarded treasures who gift their magical abilities. Soon the girls find themselves at the heart of a political scheme that shakes the world as they know it.

Saltwater Boy by Bradley Christmas is a coming-of-age story that explores father-son relationships, against a backdrop of small town rivalries, buried truths, with themes of sustainability, preserving the past and environmental care. The story navigates the difficult terrain of fractured families, the lies that break and the ties that bind.
