Year 11 Unit 2 Exams
The purpose of having Exams in Year 11 is:
1. To provide a framework for students to demonstrate knowledge and skills learnt over an extended period of time, i.e., Unit 2.
2. To provide opportunities for students to experience a structured exam timetable.
3. To provide students with the experience of sitting a formal exam in a large group, under the supervision of someone other than their normal class teacher.
4. To create an opportunity for students to complete set tasks within a set time constraint.
5. To replicate the format and experience of the exams that they will complete in Unit 3 & 4.
Please not the following:
- No scheduled classes will occur during the examination period. VCAL classes will still run during exams.
- Students are required to undertake Exam revision during the day when they do not have a scheduled exam.
- Students will come to school just for their exams.
- Students are required to be in full college or PE uniform. Normal consequences will apply for students out of uniform.
- Exams to take place in the Senior Centre.
- Exams are 90min for all subjects (except English and EAL), inclusive of reading time.
- Students must arrive 20mins before their Exam start time.
- All students are expected to complete two practice Exams provided by their subject teacher in preparation for each examination.
- Alternative arrangements will not be made for students with regards to Exams unless the student absence is deemed by the College to be the result of extenuating circumstances, illness as supported by medical evidence (i.e., medical certificate) or Approved Leave.
- Year 10 Early Start students are required to attend Year 11 Exams and must also be present in remaining Year 10 classes on the day of their examination.
- Students are required to bring all appropriate materials e.g. writing implements, calculator, etc. to each Exam. Different subjects will have different approved materials that you can bring in.
- If a student finds they are required to complete three Exams during the one day, please speak to Mr Black so other arrangements can be made.
- If a student is absent on the day of an Exam, medical evidence is required. Parents are also required to update the absence on Compass. In addition, students are required to Teams message Mr Black (BLA) before the exam so a time can be arranged for the exam to be rescheduled.
