Foundation (Prep)

Literacy

Prep C has shared a number of books this week and discussed their thoughts about the author's message. They read Silly Billy and reflected in their Reader's Journal about what they thought the author was trying to tell us.

We also spent time thinking about questions from a good point of view and a bad point of view. For example, in Possum Magic, students thought about reasons why it would be good or bad to be invisible. Then, in My Uncle's Donkey, students thought about reasons why it would be good or bad to have a donkey living in your house.

Maths

This week in Maths we completed some assessment tasks, made a weather graph and focused on chance. As we head towards the end of term, students are starting to feel tired and, at times, are losing patience with each other. During one session, we enjoyed some games of snakes and ladders and focused on sharing, taking turns and speaking nicely to each other. I am proud to say we had some very respectful behaviour and the children worked together cooperatively. Thank you to our grade 5/6 student helpers who worked with us while their class was at swimming.

Thank you to Ms Fatnowna and Ms Dowell for working with us again this week.

Swimming

I look forward to seeing everyone bright and early Monday morning, ready for a swim!

Please remember we will be leaving the classroom at 8:50am to head to the bus. The bus leaves promptly at 9am and we will return to school to have recess. It would also be appreciated if your child could go to the toilet before they arrive at the classroom.

Students are to come dressed in their bathers underneath their school uniform (boys could wear board shorts with a school top). They will also need to bring a small bag with their towel, goggles, swimming cap (if needed), underwear, socks, school clothes and a plastic bag for wet clothes. Please make sure everything is labelled - it is very difficult to keep track of everyone's belongings. School bags and lunch boxes will be left at school.

Thank you!

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Callaway
