Miss Mel's Message

Acting Principal - St Brigid's Primary School

Week 5, Term 4

Recently we have had a whole school focus on spring cleaning, sorting and clearing. You may notice some changes as you walk through our learning spaces. Thank you to the PFA support in assisting Jess with a big clean up of the sports shed.  We are in the process of a few upgrades. The meeting room has had a fresh coat of paint - thanks Gaz, and we will soon have new cupboards in the entry of the school - thanks Pete Connors.

Negotiations continue for the school building project and I hope to be able to share some positive news with you very soon.

Principal interviews have been conducted and a nomination has been made to the Archbishop for ratification. We will advise you as soon as we are made aware of the new appointment.

We continue to promote our beautiful school on FaceBook, please check out our page and even share it with your family and friends. I have had a great time working with our Year 6 leaders, and you will see some of their sentiments on our page at regular intervals. It has also been a pleasure engaging with our Year 5 students in preparation for their leadership speeches which will occur in a few weeks.

Please also note, new MACS medical management forms are being sent to families to complete over the next week.

Upcoming fun community events

Our whole school project team is working towards their St Brigid’s mini market, capitalising on the Gisborne market on December 4th. An Operoo note has gone out to the families of those involved in the preparation and running this event. We plan on having a wide range of stalls on the day, run and led by our students from Years 3-6. These are our future leaders of Gisborne who are promoting our school, and spreading the word of all the amazing and wonderful things we do in our community.

Community Carols by Candlelight is on December 4th. Our school choir will be performing two songs at this event. It will be held at Dixon Field at 6pm. An Operoo note will be going out early next week in relation to this for our beautiful choir members. All ages across the school are welcome to join our rehearsals on Mondays at 11am at school and all families are most welcome to attend this great community event.

Gisborne Community Festival parade participation Friday 9th of December. Our school is entering a Christmas-themed float. Any parents who might have a trailer or a truck that we could use and decorate - please let me know. Notes to follow soon.

#Share the Dignity “It’s in the Bag” - Mini Vinnies are supporting a women's charity in Australia, that works to make a real difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, or doing it tough. We will be making bags up with an assortment of items; Period Products, Shampoo, Conditioner, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Deodorant (roll-on preferred) & Soap or Body Wash. Alternatively you may wish to fill a bag yourself with any kinds of these products and leave it for us to distribute. We will have a tub at the office if you would like to donate. We do understand that this may not be the right time for you to contribute to our social justice actions, and this is an invitation only, for those who would like to do so.

Thank you for your continued support!

At St Brigid’s we are #LivingItAndLovingIt!
