VCAL Work Related Skills

Throughout Terms 3 and 4, one of our Year 11 VCAL Work Related Skills classes has been working hard to create a mural. The aim of the mural is to celebrate the diverse cultures that make up Tarneit Senior College and to promote inclusion and acceptance of everyone.

The class worked very hard on this project, completing all aspects themselves. The students designed the initial image, completing sketches of each of the faces they wanted on the mural. The students then turned the sketches digital and placed them together before scaling them to the size of the mural (a massive 3.2m X 1.8m). They sanded the timber panels, primed them and then sketched on the design. Once the class was happy with this, they painted the image using vibrant colours kindly donated to the College by Bunnings Tarneit. The class, with the support of Bunnings Tarneit, hung the mural on Tuesday the 25th of October on the basketball court where we hope it hangs proudly for many years to come.

The class would like to thank Bunnings Tarneit and their teacher Melissa Brown for the guidance and donations throughout the project. As a class, we are extremely proud of all of our hard work, and we hope the Tarneit Senior College community enjoys the mural.

Here's what some of our students had to say about working on the project:

The mural is made to represent the different cultures of this school and it helps make each student feel welcome when entering Tarneit Senior. Making this project over the past few weeks brought our class together with unity and pride.
