Donations of Uniform & Books
As a College, we endeavour to support our students and families to ensure they have access to the uniform and learning resources they need. With a constantly growing school population, the need to help students and families increases. We would like to invite families to donate uniform and books they no longer need. If you have any items to donate, please drop them off at the College office during regular school hours. We greatly appreciate the support of our school community.
Step-up Program
Next week, sees the start of the Year 11 into 12 Step-up program. On Wednesday 16th November, the Year 11 students of Barak and Penrose houses will depart on an overnight camp to Anglesea. Chirnside and Gillard students will depart for their camp on Thursday 17th November. The camps will allow students to develop teamwork, try new things and build resilience heading into Year 12. We also have the team from Elevate coming to deliver study skills sessions for all Year 11 students. This will occur on Wednesday 16th November for Chirnside and Gillard Students and on Friday 18th November for Barak and Penrose students.
All students in Year 10 and 11 will then participate in a two-week step-up program in their Year 11 and 12 classes for 2023. This program is compulsory; students gain an introduction to their subjects and begin coursework for the following year. It is important that all students attend every day to set themselves up for success next year. It is equally important that students attend all classes on time and remain in class throughout the lesson.
The step-up program ends on Thursday 1st December for Year 11 students. On Friday 2nd December, Year 10 students will participate in an engagement day to celebrate the end of the year.
Secondary School Immunisation Program catch-ups
Secondary school immunisations are provided to students to reduce their risk of contracting preventable diseases and some cancers. Health advice regarding immunisations recommends students receive the following:
Year 7
- Diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (whooping cough) (one dose)
- Human papillomavirus (HPV) (2 doses 6 months apart).
Year 10
- Meningococcal A,C,W,Y (one dose).
Due to COVID-19 related interruptions to school-based learning, there are a number of students in years 7 to 12 who may have missed these important vaccines. This puts students at an increased risk of illness.
If your child missed out on their school-based vaccinations, please speak to your GP or local council immunisation service about how they can catch up.
To check if your child is due for any vaccines, refer to their immunisation history statement on the Australian Immunisation Register, using your MyGov account.
If your child is aged over 14, they may need to access their immunisation history statement themselves, through their own MyGov account or the Medicare mobile app.
