Principal's Report

Dear Families, Students and Community Members,

Step Up

On Monday 21st November our current year 10 & 11 students will begin their transition to the following year level and will officially start their 2023 learning program. Step Up is a compulsory learning program for all students with the expectation that students are beginning their 2023 Year 11 & 12 studies.

During the Step-Up program students will follow their 2023 timetables and will officially start course work for all subjects.

Celebrating Student Achievement

Over the coming few weeks we will have some wonderful opportunities to celebrate our students hard work and endeavour. This starts with our annual Year 12 Graduation and will be followed the following week by our Year 10 & 11 Awards evening.

Capital Works Update

As you may be aware, our school received almost $6 million in the 2021-22 Victorian State Budget to expand Tarneit Senior College’s facilities. This will give our students better learning opportunities and create places for an extra 300 local students.

We have worked with the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) and architects from Workshop Architecture to develop a spatial analysis plan to evaluate the constraints and opportunities of our school’s existing facilities and buildings.

We’ve also now a created a new updated masterplan - which plans out the future infrastructure needs of our college. It separates works into stages, depending on our most pressing infrastructure needs.

Our upgrade is now out to tender with the hope that construction will begin at the beginning of 2023. This upgrade includes an additional 10 learning spaces, development of a further 2 dedicated Science rooms and the construction of a Wood Technology space in the ‘old gym’.

As we move well into the final school term of this year, thank you for all your work. This has been another challenging year, but we have risen to every challenge, and I have every confidence that together we will continue to do just that.

Kind regards

Simon Haber
