It’s getting to that time of year again when parents are stressed, and kids are stressed. It happens to all of us – being time-poor, having too many events on, deadlines, and of course, exams for our Year 12s. 

 

It’s ok to feel stressed, in fact, stress can often motivate us in a positive way. When stress becomes negative is when the demands outweigh our abilities and resources to cope.

 

This is when things can snowball – we react to things that we wouldn’t ordinarily react to – and then of course we upset the people around us who are unfairly targeted. So, then we don’t just have an endless to-do list and more social engagements than we can handle, we also have complex relationship dynamics and a list of apologies to make! 

 

It is important at this time of year to be kind to ourselves and also to remind ourselves that the end is in sight. It is for a season only…
