Principal's News

Nigel Rodrigues

Dear Families,

As predicted last week, after we had a few sunny days, we have been hit with much rain and unfortunately that has kept our children indoors when I am sure they would much rather be outside in the playground. I must, however, thank them all, as for the most part, they remain positive and flexible when we have to make the 'Wet Day' call. I must also thank our staff, who on these days can often miss their breaks so as to cover classes who have to be kept indoors. The upside of this is that it often forces our children to be creative in occupying themselves inside as we discourage the use of devices during wet days and encourage our children to entertain themselves in more traditional ways.

Yr 1/2 Extended stay and Incursion

On Monday our Year 1/2 classes had their extended stay at school and not only did they enjoy some pizza, fruit and popcorn together but they also had a wonderfful experience learning about Coding using lego. Two educators from Lego  ran the workshop enabling our children to experiment and design a robot which they then had to program to perform several tasks. The excitement and creativity of our children showed exactly how much fun can be had whilst learning real life skills which they will no doubt put to use in the future.

Prayer:  A prayer for our Politicians

Give us the hearts to choose the leader who will work with other leaders to bring safety to the whole world.
Give us a government that provides for the advancement of this country without taking resources from others to achieve it.
Give us insight enough ourselves to choose as leaders those who can tell strength from power, growth from greed, leadership from dominance, and real greatness from the trappings of grandiosity.
We ask you, God, give us the vision as a people to know where global leadership truly lies, to pursue it diligently, to require it to protect human rights for everyone everywhere.
We ask these things, Great God, with minds open to your word and hearts that trust in your eternal care.

School Gardening Club

I hope our parents, especially those dropping off and picking up children from the junior classrooms, have noticed the great work of Ms Belinda and members of our Gardening Club and Sustainability Leaders. Many of our veggie gardens have been exploding with produce and some of our children have been lucky enough to take some of this home and prepare some delicious meals with fresh vegetables. Have a look at what at what William in Year 1 was able to produce with a little bit of help from home.

Ms Belinda always encourages us to send in pics of the things we make with the fresh produce. This is a few weeks ago now but William brought home some silverbeet  and so we made an omelette with the leftovers going in a green salad.

Trinity Voices

For those of you who were able to attend last week's asembly you would havehad the pleasure of hearing our Trinity Voices performing some of the songs they have been learning with Bernadette. Our little group has grown, with many children from all year levels now attending each Wednesday.  It is so great that we can give these children the opportunity to express themselves through music and song. We look forward to even more performances as the children develop their reportoir.

Election Day

The 2022 Victorian State Election will take place on Saturday 26 November 2022 to elect the 60th Parliament of Victoria. All 88 seats in the Legislative Assembly (lower house) and all 40 seats in the Legislative Council (upper house) will be up for election. Unfortunately this time Trinity Primary School will not be hosting a polling station, however, you can vote at St Ignatius Church throughout the day.  While you are there you can even purchase a delicious treat prepared by our generous parents who will be setting up a Baking Stall on the day.

Kind Regards

Nigel Rodrigues
