David's Message

We're almost at the end!

Dear Sunny Heights Community,

Can you believe it...? We are almost at the end of the first full school year (without lockdowns or interruptions) since 2019! Over the past few weeks we have had a hive of activity at school. The gardens at the front of the school have been completely changed as the plans for the future playground come together. The Nugal-nganjin Community Garden near the specialist hub has some beautiful wooden circles appearing, helping to define the yarning circles outside each of the specialist rooms. Our amazing parents cooked up a myriad of delicious cakes and biscuits, and then volunteered their time to sell these, cook sausages and make coffees to raise over $3000! And, as if that weren't all, we still have lots to come this term!

This coming week we will enjoy our festive concert and Art Show, with Jasmine and Aasta, our Specialist Team, and of course our parent volunteers, working with our students to make the evening a special one. Soon we will farewell to our grade 6 students at graduation, and we will also be able to reminisce about the 7 years they have spent being Courageous, Collaborative, Committed and Connected. We also have a special morning tea on Friday 16th December at 9:15am for all our special parent helpers, volunteers, election supporters. Finally, we wrap the term up on Tuesday 20th December, which is a 1:30pm finish and of course, it is a causal clothes day. If you need care for your child after 1:30pm please chat to Rosa at Big Childcare.

With the end of term fast approaching, if you have any changes to your child's schooling for 2023 due to a move of house or change of circumstances, please let us know as soon as possible via the school office. We are already well planned for 2023 and will soon release the calendar for the year to help with long term planning for our families.

We are very much looking forwards to an amazing end of term and we have to thank each and every one of you (and your children!) for your incredible support and connection over the past school year.

Best wishes,

David and the Sunny Heights Team
