Years 10 to 12
Welcome back students and community! We are so excited to start 2023 with you all! We hope that you have had a smooth start to the year and that this first week has been enjoyable.
In the coming weeks we will be sending out the Senior Student handbooks, we encourage you all to read this so that you understand the rules and directives that support our students to have a successful VCE, VCE-VM or Year 10 program. All students will be required to sign a document titled Student Acknowledgement Form to confirm they have read and understood the information in this handbook.
There will be a whole school assembly on Friday the 10th Feb where we will have great pleasure in awarding the first of our merit awards. This is not only a great opportunity to connect as a school but also acknowledge the fantastic things that are happening every day at our college. Parents and carers will be notified each time your child is awarded a merit point via the email registered to the school.
Over the coming weeks, all students will receive information about, and have the opportunity to apply for a position on our Students Representative Council. We really encourage all students to have a serious think about taking advantage of the opportunity to build and apply their leadership skills through being part of the SRC.
Lastly, we would like to extend a warm welcome to all our new students, including Year 10’s to senior school and Year 7’s to the college.
Year 12
Year 12 students started off on Tuesday straight into classes continuing on from the Step Up program in 2022. We have been so proud of the way that all of our year 12s have started the year and encourage you all to discuss their experiences from the first week, and results from the holiday homework that the students completed over summer.
85 of our Year 12’s have spent Wednesday-Friday on the inaugural Apollo23 camp engaging in a range of educational and team building activities. We have enjoyed the opportunity to get to know our 12s better and look forward to continuing to develop our connections as the year progresses.
Year 11s
Year 11 students started their year on Wednesday heading straight into classes from the Step Up program in 2022. We have been so proud of the way that all of our year 11’s have started the year and encourage you all to discuss their experiences from the first week, and results from the holiday homework that the students completed over summer.
Year 11 students who are enrolled in VET studies should be aware that all VET programs start next week. Any students who are completing the VCE-VM should be starting their work placement in the coming weeks as well. If you are yet to secure a work placement please reach out to the Careers team or Senior School for support.
Year 11 students are strongly encouraged to seek out opportunities to engage in the array of extra-curricular activities at the school, this can be a great opportunity to show leadership and mentorship to our younger students.
Year 10s
Year 10 students started their year off on Wednesday heading straight into classes from the Step Up program in 2022. We have been so proud of the way that all of our year 10’s have started the year and encourage you all to discuss their experiences from the first week, and results from the holiday homework that the students completed over summer.
We are really excited to launch our first semester with our new senior school students with Work Experience. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop work readiness skills and start to explore their future pathways. If you have any questions or concerns relating to work experience please reach out to our work experience coordinator, Megan Penn in the Senior School Office.
Year 10 is a really exciting year as students begin the serious journey of readying themselves for completing secondary school. We strongly encourage all students to look for opportunities to develop their leadership skills. One of the ways that they can do this is through applying to be on the student leadership council. Elections are coming up and all elected members will receive leadership training and multiple opportunities to apply their new and pre-existing leadership skills.
