Student Engagement

How our students are having an impact in our school and community.

Student Leaders and Student Representative Council

A new school year is always a very exciting time at Anson Street School - new students, new beginnings, new classrooms, and new Student Leaders! On Tuesday the 7th of February we inducted our new school leaders with a ceremony in the Trade Training Centre. The induction ceremony was a wonderful success, the sun was shining in the vineyard as parents and carers proudly presented badges to the new leaders as students watched live through a video stream. The leaders then mingled with parents, students and staff with a delightful morning tea in the sunshine before posing for photos for the Central Western Daily.

We're very proud of our student leaders who represent our school values of respect, responsibility and safety. We're confident that our leaders will lead Anson Street School through a wonderful school year.

The school leaders will be a guiding force of this year's Student Representative Council (SRC). Representatives from each stage will gather biweekly to discuss issues of importance to the student body. Working with our executive staff the SRC will allow for a clearer student voice to be heard throughout our school.

The SRC will have it's inaugural meeting on the 16th February. Stay tuned for updates!

Youth Reference Group

The Youth Reference Group run by Headspace is a group of people who are passionate about youth mental health and work with staff at Headspace.  Members develop communication and leadership skills while collaborating with organisations in Orange to better the mental health of people in Orange.

The Headspace Youth National Reference Group (hY NRG) is made up of a diverse group of young people of varying ages, genders and cultural backgrounds.

The group represents each state and territory and works with headspace to ensure young people's voices and opinions remain front and centre.

The hY NRG team is made up of a group of people who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people. Hailing from all over Australia and from a diverse set of backgrounds, many of the hY NRG team have experienced their own struggles but overcome them to become advocates of youth mental health.

hY NRG makes sure that any new initiative from headspace will make a positive difference in the lives of young people, and the resources headspace receive from government and corporate partners are put to the best use.
