Scotsburn Campus Photo this Friday

This Friday, we will be conducting our whole campus photo for 2023, on the concrete area at 9.30am. We would love absolutely everyone there, so if you have any appointments on Friday with your child, please aim to work around this time. A massive thank you to Nyree Wilson (Merc’s mum) for offering her services and time to organise and take the photo for us.

Scotsburn Christmas Shared Lunch

Monday 12th December

As has been tradition at Scotsburn in recent years, we will hold a Christmas Shared Lunch at the Campus on Monday 12th December. Students will not be required to bring lunch on this day, as a full Christmas lunch will be provided for the students to eat together. If there are any dietary requirements for your child, please see your child’s teacher. There is no cost to families for this day - it is our gift for a wonderful year!

Scotsburn 2023 Orientation Day

Next Tuesday (13th December) we are holding our 2023 Orientation Day at Scotsburn. All students at the Scotsburn Campus will spend the whole day with their 2023 classmates and teachers (including the new preps), participating in a range of transition activities to assist with getting ready and settled for next year).

Our Grade 6 students who are not attending their secondary school transition day will assist around the campus, particularly with Mrs Anderson and the new 2023 prep students.

Scotsburn Pool Fun Day

Wednesday 14th December

A reminder that our pool day is on Wednesday 14th December, between 10:00am – 12:00pm. We will be heading off to Fed Uni Pool to participate in a variety of pool activities. Students will then be treated to some hot chips when we return to school. If there are any dietary requirements for your child, please see your child’s teacher. Students are encouraged to also bring their normal lunch on this day as well, as the chips may not be enough to fill hungry little bellies!

Please remember to provide consent and payment for your child to attend on Compass by this Friday.

End of Year Scotsburn Christmas Concert and Picnic

Friday 16th December - 2pm - 4pm

We are now getting very close to our end of year celebrations. If you didn’t receive information notes about our Christmas concert, please check Compass and/or contact your child’s teacher. These notes have some very important information regarding the running of the event.

Just a reminder that Santa will be visiting and we will need all of  Santa’s helpers to assist us with this! Please see earlier Compass message if you are unsure on this process or please see a staff member if you need help in arranging for this to happen.

School Reports and Parent Teacher Interviews

As you may be aware, end of year school reports go out on Compass this Friday, with parent teacher interviews planned for next Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Bookings are now open on Compass. The Scotsburn teachers have really enjoyed the report writing process, reflecting on all the wonderful learning and achievements of each and every student. Please take the time to read your child’s report with them over the weekend, as well as their student report comment that will also come home on Friday. The students are very excited and proud to share all that they have achieved in 2022!

Last Day of School Reminder

This year the last day of school is Tuesday 20th December. As we did last year, we will start the morning at the Buninyong Campus for the whole school assembly. Our Grade 6 leaders will be presenting at assembly as well as many other end of year celebrations. As it is a 1.30pm finish, we will spend the entire day at Buninyong, so please remember pick up arrangements will be at Buninyong. We will meet parents and carers in the courtyard at 1.15pm for a final campus farewell. If your child is planning to give any cards or presents at the end of the year to friends, It may be easier to do this by Monday 19th, as this will be our last day at the Scotsburn Campus for 2022.

Scotsburn 2023 Planning

Our planning for 2023 at Scotsburn is coming along nicely, with us just putting the final touches on our staff roles and timetables. We will be able to provide a full detailed rundown of staff, staff roles, timetables and classrooms in next week’s newsletter. It is looking very exciting, so stay tuned!

Wonder Bread Recycling Rewards Program

A big thank you to all families that donated bread bags as part of the Wonder Bread Recycling initiative in schools. Not only were the bags recycled and used again, we scored some great sports equipment as part of a thank you for helping make a difference!

Reverse Advent Calendar

This week we have begun our participation in a reverse advent calendar, with each class filling a box of non-perishable items to provide to those requiring some assistance over the holiday period. Each class has a box in their room and you should have received a note last week with the day that your child is to bring in an item - the boxes are starting to fill up already! This is a wonderful activity for the students to participate in, building the values of giving, empathy and care for others. Please see the list below for an item that you could choose to provide.

Books starting to come home

In the second half of this week, you may notice some books starting to come home in your child’s bag. We are starting this process this week, as next week is full to the brim of activities each day! Staff will aim to stagger the books coming home, hopefully with not too many in the one hit filling the bag!

SC1 Learning Snapshot

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Last Thursday we welcomed Evie and Elfie the cheeky little elves into our classroom. We have been tying up all our learning and starting to unwind and reflect on all our achievements. Our concert planning is well underway and students have been excitedly rehearsing for our concert item. We can’t wait to share it with you all!

This week we have our wellbeing workshop around fostering healthy friendships. Students learning books will start to be sent home this week. If you have a spare shopping bag at home, please send one in by Friday and we will begin to fill it with our activity books. I know the students will love sharing their work with you at home.

Have a wonderful week,

Thanks, Ana

SC2 Learning Snapshot

In SC2, students have been busy learning about Geometry and in particular the properties of 3 Dimensional shapes. Students have been learning about faces, vertices and edges and will continue to do more this week. Students created a narrative text about ‘The One and Only Ivan’...the next chapter and began to think about Christmas whilst practising their skimming and scanning skills. We are all getting very excited about our graduation picnic and have started to make plans for our act.

Wishing you all a great week,

Dani

SC3 Learning Snapshot

We are go, go, go at the moment! SC3 is a hive of activity, finishing off lots of writing tasks as well as completing end of year arrangements. Our Grade 6s are super busy, fitting in Graduation practise, with making their Graduation skateboards as well as preparing to help run the Scotsburn Christmas Concert. You are doing a great job boys!

The Grade 5s have also worked hard to complete their 2023 Leadership Application letters, as well as their maths mapping project and their student report comment. They have really done an amazing job tying all this work together. We will be holding interviews for 2023 Campus Leaders this Thursday, where we will select one boy and one girl for 2023. All other Grade 6 students will have a leadership role around the campus that they applied for. Campus Leaders will be announced and introduced at our Christmas Concert.

Today SC3 went to the Buninyong Campus to participate in some wellbeing workshops run by Project Rockit. These workshops are designed to build empowerment in our students, with the workshops specifically focusing on “Launching everyday leadership” for Grade 5s, and  “ Navigating the online world together” for Grade 6 students. I am sure that they all go a great deal out of the sessions.

Finally, our Concert item is really coming together now - we can’t wait to show you all!

Specialist Interviews

Just a reminder that Jess and Liz are available for interviews on Thursday 15th of December only. Due to us teaching at both campuses, we might be required to hold these interviews at Buninyong Campus. We will advise you of our interview locations as soon as possible :)

BROADCAST OF THE 2022 VICTORIAN STATE SCHOOL SPECTACULAR (VSSS)

If you are interested in watching Beth and Kahlan (along with 14 Buninyong students)perform at this year’s VSSS, tune in to channel 7 on December 17 starting at 7pm.  The show will also be streaming on 7plus (www.7plus.com.au) for the following 30 days.

We have already registered for VSSS in 2023, so Mrs Morgan will be looking for students interested in participating.  Watching the 2022 VSSS on TV might just help some students decide whether this is something they’d like to put their hand up for.

Icy Poles are back!

Icy poles are back! The grade 6 boys will be selling icy poles on the old building on Friday for $1. Remember to bring you coins!

Wonder Bread Recycling Rewards Program

A big thank you to all families that donated bread bags as part of the Wonder Bread Recycling initiative  in schools. Not only were the bags recycled and used again, we scored some great sports equipment as part of a thank you for helping make a difference!

Thanks, The Sustainability Team!
