Introducing our new Director of Student Wellbeing  |  Chelt.Sec Wellbeing Team  |  Kingston Youth Services  |  Contact form  |  Helpful contacts

My name is Kerri Haworth and I am the new Director of Student Wellbeing.  I am passionate about wellbeing and I am excited to be joining the Cheltenham Secondary College community.  I bring my knowledge and experience to build on the already excellent work being done to create a student wellbeing program that supports the fantastic work in the classroom.  Wellbeing forms the foundation of our success and teaching young people the emotional literacy that gives them the skills to self-manage their emotions is an essential part of ensuring they are reaching their full potential.

I have spent the last six years building a student wellbeing program at Mount Waverley Secondary College. This work culminated in winning the 2022 Victorian Education Excellence Award for Most Outstanding Education Support team, with our team regarded as being at the cutting-edge of wellbeing improvement and innovation in schools and our Student Wellbeing Model helping others to deliver effective whole-school wellbeing initiatives.

The executive class, teachers and education support staff at Chelt.Sec are working incredibly hard to provide your children with an outstanding education.  The student wellbeing program which will include workshops delivered by the team, guest speakers and external presenters, provides a holistic approach, when combined with the lessons in the classroom.

The Wellbeing team have hit the ground running.  On Tuesday 31st January, the team met with every Year 7 class to engage in activities that encouraged them to build and strengthen connections with staff and classmates.   The team have already met with numerous students to check in with them after the holiday break, and provided advice and support to a number of parents.  I have also presented to staff on the importance of self-care.

I am looking forward to working with the Directors of the Subschools to find opportunities within the curriculum program to bring in guest speakers throughout the term, as well as celebrating Awareness days such as the upcoming International Women’s Day on 8 March.
